Maryellen is very excited to receive an invitation to a friend's party, until she realizes that it's a pool party. Maryellen can't swim and she is sure her friends will make fun of her if they find out. She decides to come up with an excuse so she doesn't have to go. When her excuses fail, she realizes she must go to the party and face the truth.
